Keencuisinier Non alcoholic Mulled Wine Recipe

Christmas is incomplete without visiting Xmas markets & grabbing a massive mug of mulled wine. Certainly all this didn’t happen this year thanks to COVID. To lift up our spirits we stirred up some non-alcoholic mulled wine to bring in the Christmas eve. Traditionally mulled wine also known as Gluehwein is made by mixing red wine and orange juice but since I am breastfeeding we made a non-alcoholic version using organic grape & cranberry juices, spiced with cinnamon, cloves & star anise, sweetened up with a drizzle of honey. While this was warming up on a low flame my home smelled so good! I spent my Christmas with a warm mug of this by my fireplace in the company of loved ones. If you are still wondering how to ring in 2021, make yourself a mug of the mulled wine and I promise it will make you feel warm & fuzzy.

  • Cook time: 15 minutes
  • Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 300 ml Cranberry Juice
  • 300 ml Grape Juice
  • 150 ml Water
  • 2 Star Anise
  • 3 Clove
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 Orange , sliced
  • 1 Apple
  • 1/3 cup Cranberries
  • 3 tbsp Honey

Directions:

  • 1)

In a large sauce pan add juices, spices and oranges. Warm it on a low flame for 5 minutes, stirring a couple of times. Don’t bring it to boil.

  • 2)

Next add sliced apples, drizzle honey & further warm it on low flame for 10 minutes by stirring occasionally.

  • 3)

Cover the sauce pan with a lid & let it sit  for at least 1 hour so the flavor 0f spices are well infused in the wine.

  • 4)

Reheat the non-alcoholic wine just that its warm enough to sip on. Strain it through a sieve & pour in the mugs.

  • 5)

Garnish it with sliced oranges, cranberries & apples. I added spice infused fruits from the simmered wine.Non Alcoholic Mulled Wine by Keencuisinier

Notes

  • You can make this non-alcoholic mulled wine ahead of time. It stays at the room temperature up to two hours .
  • You can reheat this non-alcoholic mulled wine on a low flame until its warmed up.
  • If you have leftover non alcoholic mulled wine you can refrigerate it in an air tight container for up to three days.
  • You can drizzle more honey if you like.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled up.
  • Since I used organic juices it didn’t have any added sugar, check for the ingredient list while buying the juices. Add or subtract the honey according to your liking.
