Christmas is incomplete without visiting Xmas markets & grabbing a massive mug of mulled wine. Certainly all this didn’t happen this year thanks to COVID. To lift up our spirits we stirred up some non-alcoholic mulled wine to bring in the Christmas eve. Traditionally mulled wine also known as Gluehwein is made by mixing red wine and orange juice but since I am breastfeeding we made a non-alcoholic version using organic grape & cranberry juices, spiced with cinnamon, cloves & star anise, sweetened up with a drizzle of honey. While this was warming up on a low flame my home smelled so good! I spent my Christmas with a warm mug of this by my fireplace in the company of loved ones. If you are still wondering how to ring in 2021, make yourself a mug of the mulled wine and I promise it will make you feel warm & fuzzy.

In a large sauce pan add juices, spices and oranges. Warm it on a low flame for 5 minutes, stirring a couple of times. Don’t bring it to boil.

Next add sliced apples, drizzle honey & further warm it on low flame for 10 minutes by stirring occasionally.
- 3)
Cover the sauce pan with a lid & let it sit for at least 1 hour so the flavor 0f spices are well infused in the wine.
- 4)
Reheat the non-alcoholic wine just that its warm enough to sip on. Strain it through a sieve & pour in the mugs.
- 5)
Garnish it with sliced oranges, cranberries & apples. I added spice infused fruits from the simmered wine.
