This white chocolate bark can be made in a blink of an eye because you just melt the chocolate in the microwave, top it with colorful toppings of your choice. Since white chocolate doesn’t really taste like chocolate as it has no cocoa. It is sweeter and lacks color which makes it as a great base for the colorful toppings to shine.
These homemade colorful chocolate bark makes a great delicious gift. It is sweet, crunchy, aromatic, decadent…..tastes just like mithai.
Ingredients you need for chocolate bark:
- White Chocolate: Make sure you use high-quality white chocolate. I use Ghirardelli White Premium Chocolate. It is more sensitive to heat compared to dark chocolate, so keep the burner on low flame when melting the chocolate. If using microwave, melt it in 30 seconds increments.
- Toppings: I have added roasted slivered pistachios as its lush green color looks striking on the white base. For the aromatic floral flavors, I have added edible rose petals and cornflower petals. Coconut flakes add a beautiful texture and taste to this bark.
- Flavoring: I have added nutmeg powder and saffron strands to infuse mithai like flavors in the chocolate.
Variations:
You can get creative and add toppings of your choice: For example:
- Freeze dried Strawberries or raspberries
- Dried cranberries, dried apricots, cherries
- Slivered Almonds, hazelnuts, cashews
How to melt chocolate?
You can melt the chocolate either on a stovetop or in a microwave. I prefer melting chocolate in a microwave as its quick, requires minimal effort and creates no mess.
- Microwave : Melt the chocolate in microwave safe container in 30 seconds intervals until almost completely melted. Make sure you stir the chocolate in between the intervals until it looks smooth and shiny. However, time required to melt the chocolate varies based on microwave and the quantity of chocolate.
- Double Boiler: Simmer a few inches of water in a saucepan. Stack a metal or a glass bowl on top of a saucepan. Make sure the bowl fits snugly. Add the chocolate and allow it to melt in indirect heat.
